OD Quartey Foundation Partners with KNUST to Empower Female Students in Telecommunications Engineering

The OD Quartey Foundation is proud to announce its groundbreaking partnership with the Department of Telecommunications Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). This collaboration aims to empower and uplift female students pursuing careers in telecommunications engineering by recognizing and rewarding their academic achievements.

The foundation’s inaugural award, the Most Improved Female Student Award, was recently presented to Rachel Dorgbadzi, a remarkable fourth-year student who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and growth in her studies. Ms. Dorgbadzi was honored with a cash prize of 1,000 cedis, presented by Professor Gadze, Oduraa’s academic supervisor.

This initiative was inspired by the foundation’s namesake, Alberta Ama Oduraa Quartey, who was herself recognized as the Most Improved Student in 2019. The foundation, established in her honor, seeks to continue her legacy by supporting the next generation of female engineers.

“We believe in the power of education and the transformative impact it can have on the lives of young women,” said Ms. Jumoke Lafenwa, a representative of the OD Quartey Foundation. “Through this partnership, we hope to encourage more female students to pursue careers in telecommunications engineering and to provide them with the resources and support they need to succeed.”

The OD Quartey Foundation and KNUST are committed to fostering a more inclusive and diverse environment in the field of telecommunications engineering. This partnership is a significant step towards achieving that goal and empowering the next generation of female leaders in technology.
